Nuptial Vase by Walter Usai
Long a traditional wedding present, the nuptial vase (brocca della sposa, ormariga de sa sposa) was originally a small drinking pitcher intended to be kept on the nightstand. With the introduction of running water in the 1960’s, the vases became purely ornamental, growing in size and decoration. Crafted by Walter Usai, this vase is decorated with the classic Sardinian symbols of roses, leaves and miniature pavoncelle, one of the island’s most iconic symbols.
