€ 280,00

Every shepherd and most men in Sardinia carry a pocketknife with them at all times. Theyuse it in the countryside and at the table and one is often provided for guests rather than a typical dinner knife. Almost always, especially in rural areas, they are completely handmade by a local artisan.

The tradition goes far back, as shown by prehistoric Sardinian statues with knives in their belts. In the 20th century, laws forbidding the carrying of dangerous weapons were instated on the island and the folding Sardinian pocket knife was born.

The Pretziada Knife is based on an ancient model that was certainly first produced with a fixed blade. Called the Sulcitana after the southern region of the island, the knife is an homage to simplicity. The handle is made of aged, reclaimed wood from indigenous plants (for example juniper, wild pear, olive or myrtle).

The knife is completely hand made by local artisan Sergio Frongia. The steel blade is hand-forged, the handle is cut and sanded by hand, and all of the brass hinges are hand-shaped.

Handle from reclaimed wood, steel blade, brass hinges and details, black carbon fiber lining
