Abundance Vase
in collaboration with Sam Baron and Walter Usai
€ 360,00

Inspired by the lush and overgrown Sardinian countryside, which often clashes strikingly with the abandoned and unfinished architecture, Sam Baron has created an unusual vessel using Sardinian decorations and techniques. At first glance, the decoration seems to be decaying or chipped but, looking further, one notes new decorations sprouting up in unexpected ways and places. In collaboration with the ceramicist Walter Usai (a fifth generation artisan), the Abundance Vase stands in contrast to its mismatched twin, the Talisman Vase.

allusion-carpet
The Allusion Carpet
by Pretziada Studio and Mariantonia Urru
€ 4.200,00

The Allusion Carpet is based on traditional Sardinian bed covers from the 1800's. Always monochromatic, with the raised pibiones technique, these textiles were covered with patterns involving various plants and animals (real and fabled). Hand-tufted and finished, these rugs are made from all-natural, undyed Sardinian wool, known for its resistance.

The list price refers to a 2 m x 3 m rug. For custom sizes please write to sales@shop.pretziada.com.

Siri Vase
by Pretziada Studio and Walter Usai
€ 290,00

Once, the Romans & Greeks used these vases as canteens, slung over their shoulder as they marched. Now, void of usefulness, we decorate them intricately and place them in safe spots around the house to admire their beauty. Each Sardinian potter has their own version. This is ours.

Talisman Vase
in collaboration with Sam Baron, Walter Usai and Floris Campanacci
€ 610,00

Inspired by the Carnevale rituals in which masked men fight, march and generally wreak havoc, dressed in heavy loud bells to scare away demons and bad harvests, Sam Baron has created a sonorous vase. Its shape is inspired by simple, ancient Nuragic vessels, and its side is covered with the same hand-shaped bells used in these ceremonies. In collaboration with the ceramicist Walter Usai and bellmakers Floris Campanacci (both fifth generation artisans), the Talisman Vase stands in contrast to its mismatched twin, the Abundance Vase.

Ceremony Fireplace Set
in collaboration with Ambroise Maggiar and Fratelli Argiolas
€ 695,00

For this collaboration, Parisian designer Ambroise Maggiar was inspired by the prominence of the fireplace as the social centerpiece in every Sardinian home. Using the rough style of antique pieces as his guide, Maggiar has reinvented the essentials, wasting no space on unnecessary flourish. The set’s clean, modern lines contrast beautifully with the hand-welding and rough finish crafted by Fratelli Argiolas. Includes poker, tongs, bellows, broom, shovel, ash bucket, tool stand and two andirons.

Marria Vase
in collaboration with Valentina Cameranesi and Walter Usai
€ 335,00

With "Sisters," designer Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi, working with artisan Walter Usai, plays with the traditional, elaborate nuptial vase gifted to young brides on the island. Inspired by the sensual shapes of Usai’s urns and the presence of flirtatious decoration in Sardinian ceramics, Cameranesi Sgroi has created a duo - Marria (slender) and Tunda (shapely). Here the original shapes are both exalted and transformed, combining femininity and playfulness with a modern and mechanical touch.

The Pretziada Knife
by Pretziada Studio and Sergio Frongia
€ 280,00

Every shepherd in Sardinia carries a pocketknife at all times. They use it in the countryside and at the table. Almost always, they are hand made by a Sardinian knife maker.

The Pretziada Knife is based on an ancient model called the “Sulcitana” after the southern region of the island. It is completely hand made by local artisan Sergio Frongia. The handle is made of aged Juniper wood from the beams of old Sardinian houses. The blade is hand-forged, the handle is cut and sanded by hand, and all of the hinges are hand-shaped.

The Pretziada Boot
by Pretziada
€ 420,00

A polished remake of the classic shepherd boot, this was once the only shoe worn in the south of Sardinia. Women, men and children all had one pair for the country and one for the town. With an overlap under the laces, a fold-over tongue and a sturdy Ideal construction, these boots are made to keep out rain and mud. Made entirely in Italy in small, artisan batches from vacchetta leather, they are water-resistant and long lasting. The smooth sole is an original feature - handy both for easy cleaning and for remaining incognito - but may slip on certain wet surfaces.

Circle Vase
by Walter Usai

The Circle Vase is a typical vase made by artisan Walter Usai, who is a fourth generation potter from the town of Assemini. This vase recalls the original Roman canteens, soldiers would slip their arms through the center hole and wear it resting on their shoulder. Filled with water or wine, the canteen would then be stopped with a cork. Usai has added his signature decorations of leaves and roses - traditional elements of Sardinian design.

The Nuptial Vase
by Walter Usai
€ 660,00

Long a traditional wedding present, the nuptial vase (brocca della sposa, or mariga de sa sposa) was originally a small drinking pitcher intended to be kept on the nightstand. With the introduction of running water in the 1960’s, the vases became purely ornamental, growing in size and decoration. Crafted by Walter Usai, this vase is decorated with the classic Sardinian symbols of roses, leaves and miniature pavoncelle, one of the island’s most iconic symbols.
